Short stack strategy cash games – bankroll project

Sunday, August 31st, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Projects | 3 Comments

"Easy come easy go" seems to be the story of my life when it comes to reaching the magical 200$ poker bankroll. I was so close 3 sessions ago when I hit 197$, but I'm now down to 135$. As usual I have made a graph which clearly shows my dismal last 3 sessions. Here's how it happened (posts taken from my bankroll building thread on the PokerBRB forum) Took a beating tonight Not my best session hour ever. Lost 3 buyins (-24$) and my bankroll is now down to 171$ Lost with QQ against Read more [...]

SNG Bankroll project update 6

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | 1 Comment

I have not been playing poker since my last update July 15th. The reasons are two fold: time and interest. Time It´s my holiday now, so I am trying to keep work related activities to a minimum. Why? I am actually very motivated to work on our projects at least 12 hours a day, but it can be a very useful exercise to try to keep away from work. This helps you to stay motivated and will prevent you from burning out. Interest It can become very tedious to play poker. Just sitting there grinding, Read more [...]

Poker short stack strategy and poker bankroll building

Sunday, July 27th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

I need to start bitching again soon since things are really not going my way these days (bitching opens a direct channel to the Gods of Poker; after bitching some begging needs to be done). Since my rocket start to my new short stack strategy, my bankroll has steadily decreased. I have made mistakes for sure, but in 99% of the hands I have played I have stuck to my short stack strategy. Perhaps it doesn't work. I am however more inclined to blame simple variance. I have been dealt slightly below Read more [...]

SNG Bankroll project update 5.

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

Brief update about my SNG project. I have now played 56 SNG, which is still far to few to predict whether I am a winning player on the limit I am playing at. I am up 5$ since my last update a week ago, played 20 SNGs. That is not very satisfying, but it also becomes more and more clear that the rake is "eating" up the profit. Statistics are now: Stats so far: SNG Played: 56 Rake: $36 In the money: 38 times. 67.8%. Net profit: $49 Michael, July 15th. Bankroll project update 4. Bankroll Read more [...]

Sit and go poker bankroll project, #4

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

I haven't been playing as much as I hoped the previous week for several reasons. The Internet was down one of the days because the town I live in on Malta, Sliema, had an electicity break down. So no Internet for half a day. I also hit a bad run of losses. For me that is three SNG lost in a row (remember that 50% of the participants recieve a prize in the SNGs I play). My personal rule is that I stop playing if I hit such a bad run. I know three in a row is not much, but from experience I know Read more [...]

Sit and go bankroll project, #3

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

Sit and go poker bankroll project, #3 This is the third update on my sit and go project. I have now doubled my stack, started with $60 and my balance at Inter Poker is now $123. But rake does lower the profit significantly. I have payed $19 in rake so far. So if I was signed up for a rakeback deal I would have received 30% back. I am still playing the 50% double up sit and go, as mentioned in the previous updates. It does give the game a different element than normal sit and go´s. People Read more [...]

SNG Poker Bankroll project, update #2

Saturday, June 28th, 2008 | Poker Articles, Poker Bankroll Building, Poker Projects | No Comments

Follow up on the SNG Bankroll Building Project. I am still playing the 50% double up SNG at Inter Poker, where half of the contenders double up on the buy in. But because of a software update the lobby currency is now only UK Sterling. So the table is now £5+£0.5 which is approximately $10. Very high buy ins compared to my very low bankroll. But it seems like it's the poker gods intention that I should have a go at the higher table. And don´t ever go against the poker gods! This is of Read more [...]
